FEET First Program
Further Education Employment and Training

The
FEET First program provides senior students with information and programs to assist them to transition into Full Education, Employment or Training once they complete their schooling.
FEET First staff are available to help students who are seeking casual employment outside of school hours, school-based apprenticeships or traineeships, Vocational Education and Training in Schools Courses (VETiS), as well as those seeking to transition into full time employment or training.

We assist students with the preparation of resumes, cover letters and applications for employment, as well as how to prepare for job interviews.  Work experience and training opportunities are also sourced by the FEET First staff. Students wishing to access the FEET First staff are asked to book an appointment. Parents and carers are also encouraged to contact FEET First to discuss their child’s options.

The FEET First ‘Jobs Board’ contains employment and training vacancies as well as training opportunities such as short courses.  These opportunities are advertised through the student notices and displayed on the noticeboards in A Wing and the FEET First hallway.  Students and parents are also encouraged to ‘like’ the Rockhampton State High School – FEET First Facebook page for up to date opportunities.

A list of significant dates has been published below. Further opportunities will be advertised through the school notices and newsletters.

WORK EXPERIENCE DATES:
·       Year 10 students can choose to participate in work experience during the last week of Term 3 (11-15 September 2017).

To increase opportunities for students, we ask that parents speak with family or friends who may have businesses that would be suitable for a work experience placement.  Year 10s will receive their work experience application forms Monday 10th July 2017.
·       Year 11 and 12 - OP eligible students are able to participate in work experience for a week long block during a school holiday break to avoid impact on their studies.
